I hate white washed images of the Orishas. -_____- yes the Orishas should be above race but the whitewashing tries to erase the fact that they come from Africa and are black. I love when people other than black folks appreciate and worship the Orishas. I love how there is a growing Orisha worship in an international community. The phenomenon of people who identify as Hindi, Jewish, Muslim, and other religions on top of the traditionally Catholic identity of Yoruba worship is great. I would actually love to see a Hindi and Islamic representation of the Orishas but please… Don’t whitewash them. I just saw a picture of Yemaya, and the subtitle claimed Yemaya, the white goddess of the sea. No.
